Whisky glasses and wooden plaque with Land Rover logo
The glasses were made to test two different versions of the Land Rover logo to see which one produced the better looking result. The glass on the right used the standard logo and the one on the left used an identically sized negative image.
The slight expansion of the engraved portion of the image, due to the way the glass reacts to the LASER's "micro fracturing" process, is the reason that the Land Rover text on the left looks so much thicker than the text on the right.
The wooden plaque is 1/4" oak faced plywood and was produced with exactly the same source file that was used to etch the glass on the right of the picture.
Beer mug and tall glass with etched photographs (text is still to be added).
The software used to prepare the photographs for engraving is Universal LASER Systems own 1-Touch LASER Photo. When I did these, the correct processing parameters for etching glass were still to be developed, and I had to improvise using photoshop tweaks of the photographs and the 1-Touch parameters for engraving on marble. Since then, an new release of 1-Touch has been sent to me bu the LASER's manufacturer, and the new version includes engraving parameters for glass.
After the clients saw the final results, the client that ordered the beer mug also ordered 2 glasses, and the client that ordered the glass also ordered a beer mug.
